exporting work

once we had finished editing our TV ident we needed to export it so we would be able to combine our film and the on screen graphic which we created in livetype together in final cut.

to export our work we followed the following steps: File, Export, changed the 'compress movie for: to full quality, and clicked share. after this a bar will appear which is showing your movie being compressed.

Editting The TV Ident

Once uploaded the footage which we had film, we began to editing it in I-Movie ID, we sat down with our story board in front of us and put our clips roughly in order on the clip viewer. as you can see from the screen captures, we have got a number of different angles just for one shot. we did this so we able to make the choice of what shot we would want and what one would fit in with the

theme of our ident. we also did this because we were then able to cut the clips up to make our TV ident flow better.

After this we put the clips into the timeline and started to editing the clips together. this meant that we used the short cut of "cmdT" this able us to cut the clip where we wanted however we needed to put the playhead at the selected place on the clip before cutting it. once all of the clips were in order

and we agreed that we all liked the way that the ident would be seen we choice to add some effects to some of the clips. here are some of the effects which we thought would fit in well with our TV ident and also would relate to our target audience for 'The Grid'

This is an example of the peephole effect being used and added to one of the clips. the reas

on we choice this effect was because it helped focus in on the rubiks cube which was the main prop of the ident. we ad

ded this effect to this clip by going to editing and then video FX and going to the peephole option. and choosing the right contrast in the 'effect in' 'effect out' and also chosen the two colours which we want to use. we choice black and white as we thought these two colours would relate to the target audience. we have also added this effect to other clips throughout the ident so this was a common theme throughout the ident

we also added this effect to a clip which contained the rubiks

cube, we added the 'hue adjust' as we thought with this effect we could make the the overlay colours which are in the rubiks cube, and also it made the outline of the rubkiks cube and the colours within the square stand out more. we thought that this was able to reach out to the target demographic as it's colourful and they would be drawn into the ident by the colours.

this clip was filmed through a window, we had decided to add the rain effect onto the clip but after watching the ident from the beginning and seeing that it doesn't really fit into the ident we decided to take this away and leave the clip as it was. as the rain effect made it look fake and did not really fit into the theme which we were trying to get demo-straight within our ident.

uploading the work:

after the process of filming our TV idents, we were set the task of uploading the clips to imovie on the mac computers.
when importing we had to get the clips of the memories card which was in the camera we were using the previous lessons.
we started by openning the latest version on imovie as this is the only way in which we could upload the clips from the camera, due to the amount of clips which were already on the memories card it was a long winded process.
after this we moved into the older version of imovie where we transfered all the clips to after this we saved the project to make sure we would be able to access our clips for the next lesson.
the following lesson i sat down and cut all the clips into the right parts by using command [t] after this i placed the clips into the timeline were i was able to cut them even future and be able to make sure the whole ident was 30seconds or less as this is recommended amount of time for an ident.
in the end it turn out that the TV ident was 27seconds, this allowed us 3 seconds which we would be able to insert out on screen graphic (logo) and also the voice over

Filming of the TV ident for The Grid:

On the 11th February; George, Ben and myself went out and film the TV ident for the new and upcoming Television channel called The Grid.
we decided to work within the school area as this would mean we would have more time filming than getting to another place. We choice to use a meeting room which is located within the school, we had already booked to use this room and couple of weeks before hand.
period four we turned up to the lesson where we collected our camera and tripod. we then made our way to the meeting room to begin the filming.
Once we got into the meeting room, we took out our storyboards and decided on what shots we should do first, after setting up the camera on the tripod we were ready to go.
we started with a number of different shots of the rubiks cube, we choice to do this due to the fact that once we had uploaded the shots to imovie we could choose which shot would look the best on the screen.
we did this with all of the shots which we did as we wanted to make sure that we could pick the best well framed shot. we also did our shots from different angles to see if this would make any difference to how it would make the target audience feel towards the channel.
After a break we came back and decided to go and get some cut away to try and hope that the these would make the TV ident flow better.
